As an Inpatient Medical Coder, you will join a dynamic team of coding professionals dedicated to delivering exceptional coding services to valued healthcare clients. Your primary responsibility is to accurately assign medical codes while ensuring compliance with coding guidelines, regulations, and industry standards.


Responsibilities


  • Review medical record documentation and accurately assign appropriate ICD-10 diagnosis and ICD-10-PCS procedure codes
  • Ensure correct assignment of:
  • Medicare Severity Diagnosis Related Group (MS-DRG)
  • All Patient Refined Diagnosis Related Group (APR-DRG)
  • Accurately abstract required data based on facility specifications
  • Monitor and manage:
  • Discharged Not Final Billed (DNFB) accounts
  • Failed claims
  • Stop bills
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure timely and compliant processing of inpatient accounts through the billing system
  • Maintain accuracy, productivity standards, and key performance indicators (KPIs) established for 3M 360 or eCAC
  • Stay updated on current:
  • Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) requirements
  • Correct Coding Initiative (CCI) edits
  • Hospital Acquired Conditions (HACs)
  • National Coverage Determinations (NCDs)
  • Local Coverage Determinations (LCDs)
  • Apply appropriate modifiers to ensure clean claims submission on the first pass


Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years recent academic hospital coding experience
  • At least 3 years of recent experience with Epic and Solventum (3M) systems
  • Required certification:
  • CCS, RHIT, or RHIA
  • CIC may be considered if all other experience requirements are met
  • Bachelor’s degree in:
  • Nursing, or
  • Allied Medical-related courses
  • Strong knowledge of:
  • Coding Clinics
  • ICD coding guidelines
  • Newborn charts
  • Hands-on experience with:
  • MS-DRG
  • APR-DRG
  • PCS
  • PDX sections
  • CC/MCC sections
  • Experience using 3M or other medical coding tools
  • Willingness to complete an online or onsite assessment
  • Must be willing to work onsite in:
  • Clark, Pampanga, or
  • Subic, Zambales, Philippines
