Physiotherapist Responsibilities
Conducting thorough assessments of patients' physical conditions, including medical history, range of motion, strength, and flexibility.
Developing and implementing individualized treatment plans using manual therapy techniques, exercises, and therapeutic modalities based on the assessment findings.
Assisting patients in therapeutic exercises and activities to improve strength, endurance, coordination, and flexibility.
Providing manual therapy interventions such as joint mobilization, soft tissue mobilization, and therapeutic massage to relieve pain, reduce stiffness, and improve mobility.
Educating patients and their families about their condition, treatment options, and preventive measures to be taken to avoid further injuries or disabilities.
Monitor and evaluate patients' progress during treatment, adjusting treatment plans to ensure optimal outcomes.
Collaborating with other healthcare professionals, such as doctors, nurses, occupational therapists, and orthopedic specialists, to provide comprehensive care and facilitate interdisciplinary communication.
Keeping accurate and up-to-date patient records, including assessment findings, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
Staying current with advancements in physiotherapy by attending professional development courses, conferences, and workshops.
Adhering to ethical and professional standards, following legal and regulatory requirements, and maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
Physiotherapist Required Skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, their families, and other healthcare professionals.
Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities to assess patients' conditions and develop appropriate treatment plans.
Manual dexterity and physical stamina to perform various manual therapy techniques and assist patients with exercises.
Empathy and compassion towards patients, showing understanding and support throughout their treatment journey.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Good organizational skills to manage a caseload of patients, prioritize tasks, and maintain accurate records.
Proficient computer skills for documentation, research, and utilization of specialized software related to physiotherapy practice.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited institution.
Valid AHPC registration as a physiotherapist in Singapore.
Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and biomechanics as applied to the human body.
Understanding of various musculoskeletal and neurological conditions and their impact on physical functioning.
Familiarity with evidence-based practice and the ability to apply research findings to clinical decision-making.
Continuing education and professional development to stay updated with current best practices and advancements in the field.
